The invisible script reader

How PromptScroll works

📄

Import or dictate

Bring in scripts from Files, iCloud Drive, or any connected storage provider — .txt, .rtf, .md, .pdf, and .docx. Or open a script and dictate edits with your voice using the keyboard microphone.

▶️

Press play

A full-screen, black-background prompter scrolls your words smoothly upward so you can stay natural and look right at the lens. Tap to pause and resume, drag to scrub to any point.

⚙️

Make it yours

Set scroll speed, font, text size, and color. Mirror mode flips the text horizontally for use with teleprompter rigs and beam-splitter glass. Your settings are remembered between sessions.

A reading session, start to finish

  1. Bring in your script. Tap + on the Scripts tab to import a file from Files or iCloud Drive, or open an existing script and edit it directly — including by voice dictation.
  2. Tap to start. Tap your script in the list and PromptScroll opens full-screen, with auto-scroll beginning right away at your chosen pace.
  3. Just read. The text glides upward steadily. Tap anywhere to pause if you need a beat; drag up or down to jump to a different position in the script.
  4. Resume where you left off. Press Resume and scrolling continues from your current position — it never snaps back to the top.
  5. Done. Swipe back to the Scripts list whenever you finish. Nothing is uploaded; every script stays on your device.

Common questions

How do I import a script?▾
Tap the + button on the Scripts tab. This opens the iOS Files picker, where you can reach local storage, iCloud Drive, Dropbox, Google Drive, or any other connected provider. Supported formats are .txt, .md, .rtf, .pdf, and .docx.
Can I edit a script inside the app?▾
Yes. Swipe right on any script in the list to reveal the Edit button, which opens a full-screen text editor. Type, or tap the microphone on the keyboard to dictate. Tap Save when you're done — changes are stored immediately.
How do I pause and resume scrolling?▾
Tap anywhere on the prompter to pause. A Resume button appears at the bottom — tap it to continue from exactly where you stopped. You can also drag the text up or down at any time to scrub to a different position.
What is mirror mode?▾
Mirror mode flips the text horizontally so it reads correctly when reflected off beam-splitter glass or a teleprompter rig. Turn it on in Settings; the choice persists between sessions, so you don't have to set it each time.
Why isn't the Extra Large font size shown on my iPhone?▾
The Extra Large text size is designed for the iPad's larger display. On iPhone, screen-size constraints mean it isn't shown in View Settings. Use the Large size on iPhone — Extra Large is fully available on iPad.
Where are my scripts stored?▾
All scripts stay on your device, in the app's private Documents area. Nothing is uploaded, synced to a server, or shared. If you delete the app, the stored scripts go with it — export anything you want to keep to Files or iCloud Drive first.

Your scripts never leave your device. PromptScroll has no accounts, no analytics, and no servers. Everything stays local.
